The organizing committee of the National Auto Award has confirmed that nominations are now closed across every category and section of the 14th edition (2026). The winners will be announced and honored at the final ceremony, set for mid-November in Jeddah.
The award is the first and only one of its kind in the Middle East. It is organized and run by PR Arabia, supported by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), with JB Finance as its strategic partner.
Chinese Models Take the Lead as Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Gain Ground
This year's nominations reveal a clear change in local market trends. Tech-focused electric and hybrid models topped the list, backed by advanced powertrain technologies such as PHEV and REEV. Traditional categories, especially Japanese and Korean, saw a noticeable decline in nominations. Chinese models, on the other hand, kept rising strongly and steadily, strengthening their market share in the Kingdom amid fierce competition between manufacturers and their distributors. This edition also recorded higher participation from luxury and supercar categories.
A Landmark Year for the Kingdom's Automotive Sector
2026 has brought pivotal events to the Kingdom's automotive sector. They include the launch of advanced models built on modern engine systems and the hosting of global motorsport championships such as the Dakar Rally and a round of the Formula E World Championship. The most prominent event, globally and locally, was the official launch announcement of the national brand "CEER" on September 21.
Over 25 Categories and Surprises on the Way
Award Secretary-General Walid Karanouh explained that the deadline for closing the nomination platform was extended to give as many participants as possible the chance to enter, and to accommodate new models whose arrival was delayed by global shipping conditions.
Karanouh noted that the award hit its target of more than 25 categories, covering vehicles, special awards, and motorsport awards. He also revealed that surprises and new categories will be introduced for the first time at the final ceremony.
He added: "We constantly strive to keep pace with technological advancement to select the best across all categories, while keeping up with the latest developments in the automotive world so that the award remains comprehensive and supportive of the sector, continuing its role in celebrating excellence and innovation while highlighting influential individuals, companies, and initiatives in the Kingdom."
