Volkswagen is Looking into Developing a New Electric Truck

Volkswagen is a pioneering company in the automotive industry, and it is putting out every effort to develop its products in the field of energy, which includes not only Europe but also the United States and the rest of the world.

Electric vehicles are becoming more mainstream each year, and for that, Volkswagen, the German manufacturer, has already begun releasing initial members of its ID lineup, such as the 2022 ID.4 EV, and the 2024 ID. Buzz EV, which was released in March 2022 of this year.

According to an interview by Business Insider with Volkswagen of America CEO Scott Keogh, he shared some exciting news, Volkswagen might launch an EV pickup truck that would compete with Ford’s F-15-Lightning and Chevrolet’s Silverado EV in the United States.

“I think it’s the chance of a lifetime in this segment because electrification gives you a reset moment. It gives you a chance to bring some, let’s say, alternatives and some new ideas into this great segment." Scott Keogh said.

"Although the idea of a Volkswagen EV pickup does sound exciting, the company is only actively looking at the idea for now", he added.

Many pickup manufacturers have long dominated the market, such as Ford, General Motors, and Ram pickups, but the new Volkswagen electric pickup would compete with them, and with Chevrolet, Tesla, Rivian, and GMC, but only if the company decides to go for it.
