Toyota Tops the List and Dethrones General Motors for the First Time

General Motors always had the lead in sales in many countries all over the world, specifically in its country of origin, the USA, and for the first time in 90 years, GM was played down by none other than the Japanese manufacturer Toyota, for Toyota became the best selling company in the United States in 2021.

Toyota-salesA report from Wall Street Journal stated that Toyota’s year-end U.S. sales climbed to 2.3 million vehicles, which is an increase by 10% in comparison to 2020 sales, with the Toyota RAV4 as the best-selling car. As for GM, it confirmed that 2.2 million vehicles were sold, which is a decrease by 13% compared to 2020 sales. All of this comes down to one fact that Toyota sold 114,000 cars more than GM.

It is worth noting that Toyota’s sales dropped by 30% in the fourth-quarter, but with the chip shortage that led to disruptions in the industry which brought down GM’s sales by 43%.
