Many reports as the New York Times have reported that Toyota , the world’s largest automaker, has stopped production in of its factories in Japan, after a “cyber hack” cyberattack hit the main supplier, Kojima, which led to the disruption of the manufacturing system & supply chain.Toyota will shut down all 14 of its factories in Japan after a possible cyber-attack.
The largest supplier of Toyota parts "Kojima Industries Company" has already confirmed that its systems were subjected to a cyber attack for some unknown reasons that have yet to be determined.
“We are still confirming the damage and we are hurrying to respond, with the top priority of resuming Toyota's production system as soon as possible” Nikkei was informed by a source close to Kojima Industries.
It's worth noting that Kojima supplier produces the main essential parts for Japanese Toyota cars, such as exterior and interior elements, as well as air conditioning and steering wheel components.
The stoppage includes Toyota’s 14 domestic factories and will affect the production of 13,000 cars.As a result, the source of the cyber-attack, the type of malware used, and any other data was unidentified. Toyota didn't announce when the production lines would be restarted, though the company expressed hope that the issue with its supplier would be rectified as soon as possible.
