Recently, the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) reported to the famous automaker, Tesla, that the official numbers of the electric range for its cars are exaggerated and not true, and as a result, South Korea admitted that it will apply sanctions against the American automaker for these false statements and numbers.
And according to KFTC after examining the car’s performance, the Tesla Model 3’s range decreases by 40% when the temperatures drop drastically, on the other hand, Tesla said the Model 3’s range goes up to 528 Km without saying anything about it decreasing when the weather changes, hence, this false statement can cost Tesla up to 8.35 million dollars (31,321,000 SAR).
South Korea is like no other country, the laws in this country are applied with precision, and in this case, it is considered a violation of the rights of South Korean customers, for the automaker should face the punishment. A meeting will be held soon to make the final decision and determine the level of sanctions against the automaker.
