Sony and Honda have signed a memorandum of understanding to produce and sell electric vehicles within three years, with all partnership procedures to be established by the end of 2022. The joint venture comes in the midst of intense competition among major automakers around the world to invest in electric car factories.
Under the agreement, Honda and Sony will work together to benefit from Sony's experience in sensing and innovative technologies to combine it with Honda's experience in vehicle manufacturing and after-sales management. The new partnership between both companies aims to maximize their capabilities in order to take them to the next level.
It is worth noting that Sony has unveiled its first electric sedan concept car in 2020 following an SUV electric counterpart in 2022. However, both companies indicated that the official launch of their first production car will be in early 2025.
