Riyadh Unveils Electric Coach Bus in Collaboration with NTSC

In a revolutionary move, Petromin National Transportation Solutions Company (NTSC), a division of the Petromin Corporation, partnered with Riyadh Air to equip this new digitally native airline with all its sustainable mobility requirements. The initial phase of this partnership involved delivering the first electric coach bus, designed specifically for employee transportation. This strategic alliance represents a major milestone in the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to adopt sustainable transportation solutions.

New Electric Bus Features

The newly launched electric bus, which features a 44+1 seating configuration, is powered by a robust 350kWh battery pack, offers an estimated range of 270 kilometers on a single charge. This innovation is set to restructure the way Riyadh Air manages its employee transfers, ensuring an eco-friendly and efficient mode of transportation.

The event commenced with VIPs gathering at the Riyadh Air headquarters, then it was followed by a tour and a ceremonial boarding of the new electric bus.

This strategic partnership goes beyond the introduction of an electric bus, it also includes the development of charging stations and maintenance facilities infrastructure that will ensure a comprehensive support system for those buses. Both NTSC and Riyadh Air are looking forward to expanding this partnership, with plans to introduce other electric vehicles for crew transportation, baggage handling, airside electric buses for passengers, etc., in the future.

This electric bus launch aligns perfectly with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals, which emphasize sustainability and environmental preservation. This initiative highlights how public-private partnerships can further enhance the nation’s environmental goals.

The Group CEO of Petromin Corporation expressed his pride in the strategic partnership and mentioned that: “We are proud to have this partnership for sustainable mobility with Riyadh Air and contribute to their efforts to reach their overall sustainability goals. This is a remarkable airline with environmental responsibility embedded in their DNA.”

The CEO of NTSC, said, "NTSC is a technology company specializing in fleet Decarbonization and sustainable, multi-modal mobility. Zero-emissions transport is our DNA, and we are very happy to provide our expertise in sustainable ground mobility to such an esteemed partner as Riyadh Air. We look forward to our long and mutually beneficial relationship.”

“Every effort we make to champion sustainable practices counts in our collective fight against climate change,” said Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air. “Sustainability is embedded in our DNA and we will reflect this across all Riyadh Air’s operations, from managing fuel efficiency in the sky, to reducing carbon emissions on the ground.
