Mustang and Camaro Production Suspended Due To Parts Shortage

Ford and General Motors announced that the production of both Mustang and Camaro is temporarily suspended for a week starting from 4/4/2022 due to parts supply issues. The two companies indicated that the main issue is not only related to microchips.

GM said that the production will be suspended in the Lansing Grand River Assembly facility where the Camaro, Cadillac CT4, and CT5 are being built, which are all based on the same platform. Ford will also be idling its Flat Rock Assembly Plant.

According to some recent reports, vehicle sales were down nearly 16% in the first quarter of 2022 after the coronavirus. The conflict in Ukraine was also a major factor in a sales decline. Lastly, both plants are likely to be back up and running by April 11th.
