The MG brand revealed plans to celebrate its centennial in 2024, which included the development of a new sports car to continue the company's mission of producing high-performance sports cars.
MG previously presented Cyberster as a concept car at the Shanghai Auto Show 2021, where it received a favorable response from sports car enthusiasts. It was also highlighted that MG announced the first model of the Cyberster electric car will be released in 2024 as part of the company's centennial celebrations.
While the Chinese carmaker has yet to provide an official release date, a representative for the company underlined the importance of this car for the company and how it represents a significant step forward for the brand in the fully electric sector.
According to the reports, some automotive specialists have speculated that the next version indicated by MG may be an affordable, fully electric two-seater convertible, which will be put on the market to compete with similarly powered models, Including the Mazda Miata MX-5.
The Cyberster is a "really exciting idea," according to Carl Gotham, Head of Design at MG UK, who describes the sports car as the company's vision of the future due to its better technology, modern design, and tech-packed interior.
In terms of the car's performance parameters, the range that has been disclosed so far equals a trip of 800 kilometers and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds.
The aim of the MG brand is to achieve the sale of up to one million cars before the centenary date, through more futuristic modern designs.
