Koenigsegg announced last week plans to construct an expansive new plant connected with the current site, which is located in Aengelholm, Sweden, which was constructed from four converted aircraft hangers previously home to a Swedish air force squadron, whose ghost logo has been adopted by Koenigsegg.
By the firm announcement, Koenigsegg unveiled the reason behind its expansion plan, which is to cater to the growing demand for its hypercars. Koenigsegg recently announced that it will expand its existing area at Angelholm's Valhall Park to include a number of new facilities. The most important addition is a distinct factory for the production of the four-seat Gemara.
Due to the additional space in that location, the company will be able to hire another 100 engineers and 150 production staff over the next two years. The venue will also contain a "cinematic event room," a theater-style auditorium where the brand may hold future unveilings and events.
New offices, a showroom and retail area, and a customer lounge will all be part of the expanded plant. Customers will be able to take a test drive on the on-site test track, which will be used for pre-delivery checks and prototyping testing.
Additionally, solar panels located at the site will assist Koenigsegg in achieving its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral company.
The company is also adding an experience center, which is essentially a rotating on-site museum dedicated to Koenigsegg's history. Because both this space and the plant were originally utilized for storage of the F10 Air Force Ghost Squadron's fleet, so cars made here will feature the same ghost logo as Koenigsegg's previous cars.
Koenigsegg's growing engineering business will be accommodated in part of the new plant. The company has begun licensing some of its cutting-edge technology, the most recent of which is a power-dense electric motor and combined electric drive system with two motors and an inverter.
Koenigsegg had previously confirmed a cam-less engine. Both technologies were created specifically for the Koenigsegg Gemera.
However, the most exciting development for Koenigsegg customers is yet to come. While this round of expansion just comprises these facilities, the space will be constructed with a test track in mind. That track will be available for pre-delivery testing, possibly even for buyers who will receive their Koenigsegg Gemera or Jesko directly afterward.
