The Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer fans were looking forward to the official unveiling of the 2023 model at the New York Auto Show, but then Jeep decided to throw the bomb and surprise us all and unveiled them early with an L edition, which brought so many new elements with it.
The first thing we noticed in the pictures was the size of these two vehicles, as Jeep worked hard to make the wheelbase taller than before, so now it measures 5,758 mm, which is a great factor for them to compete against three-rowed cars like Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade ESV.
The benefits of the taller wheelbase were seen in the trunk and the cabin, for the Grand Wagoneer L’s trunk can hold up to 1,251 liters, the Wagoneer L’s trunk can hold up to 1,192 liters.
The Engine
Both models will be powered by Stellantis’ new engine, which is a turbocharged 3-liter V6, it will deliver 420 hp and 635 Nm of torque in the Wagoneer L, whereas the Grand Wagoneer will deliver 510 hp and 677 Nm of torque.
The engine is connected to an 8-speed transmission, and it sends the power to all four wheels (AWD), there’s also a mechanical limited-slip rear differential.
Jeep stated that this engine will lower the fuel consumption rate in comparison to the short wheelbase versions. The towing capacity was increased to 4,535 Kg, which made it top Suburban’s towing capacity of 3,764 Kg.
Cabin of Entertainment
The cabin features more space than the short wheelbase version, so the company took advantage of that and added a number of screens:
- 10-inch head-up display
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
- 12-inch infotainment screen
- 10-inch climate control touchscreen
- 10.3-inch infotainment screen for the front passenger
- 10.3-inch climate control touchscreen for back seats
- Two 10.1-inch infotainment screens for back seat passengers
Black Takes Over the Body
Jeep is offering a Carbide Edition which consists of black trims all over the body, from the black gloss wheels, the grille, to the side mirror caps.
Finally, Jeep said it will announce the prices prior to the market launch, as they are expected to arrive later this year.
