On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 12:31 AM Beijing time, Geely Holding Group successfully launched 11 satellites aboard a single rocket from waters near Rizhao, Shandong Province, China.
The mission deployed the fourth orbital plane of the "Geely Future Mobility Constellation," also known as GEESATCOM.
All satellites have entered their designated orbits and are operating smoothly, marking a significant milestone in advancing global satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) communications.
Expanding the Global Satellite Network
The GEESATCOM project, developed and operated by Geespace, Geely Holding Group’s commercial aerospace subsidiary, aims to provide IoT services via satellites, enable inter-satellite connectivity, and deliver Earth observation capabilities for environmental and commercial applications.
The project represents an independent initiative with strategic and technological significance, building on Geespace’s prior successes with three orbital launches in 2022 and 2024. With this latest mission, Geespace now operates 41 satellites in orbit.

The company continues to expand its global coverage, with the first phase targeting 72 satellites, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Over the next two months, Geespace plans to bring 64 satellites into operational service, ensuring nearly global IoT coverage, excluding only polar regions, reflecting Geely’s commitment to an integrated earth-space mobility ecosystem.
Innovations in Smart Mobility
GEESATCOM provides a reliable, always-on connection for multiple transportation modes, including vehicles, low-altitude aircraft, construction equipment, and maritime vessels.
The network also supports advanced driver assistance systems and connected vehicle technologies, enhancing safety and convenience in travel.
Satellite communications in low Earth orbit are rapidly transforming strategic sectors such as connected vehicles, urban air mobility, emergency response, maritime navigation, and energy infrastructure. GEESATCOM delivers wide-ranging, dependable connectivity to users around the globe.
Successful International Partnerships and Testing
Through GEESATCOM, Geespace has established partnerships with telecom operators in more than 20 countries across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Commercial tests have demonstrated an impressive 99.15% success rate and network availability exceeding 99.97%, reinforcing the company’s global credibility and operational expertise.
Geespace leverages satellite IoT communications and precision positioning to enhance vehicle automation and connectivity.
This infrastructure provides vital data for advanced driver assistance systems and connected vehicle platforms, significantly improving safety and travel comfort.
The company has also successfully commercialised its proprietary satellite communication chips and high-precision positioning modules, with vehicle-mounted satellite terminals and integrated positioning systems now in mass production across Geely Holding’s portfolio.
Practical Applications at Global Events
As an official partner of the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, Geely Holding is showcasing practical applications of its satellite technology.
The company provides high-precision positioning and emergency satellite communications for official event vehicles, enabling precise fleet management and elevating mobility standards for the international competition.
Geely’s Vision for the Future of Smart Mobility
Aligned with its intelligent electrification transformation, Geely continues to advance the GEESATCOM project, strengthening the infrastructure for smart mobility and building an integrated earth-space ecosystem.
Through continuous innovation in technology, products, and services that exceed user expectations, Geely reinforces its position as a global leader in the green intelligent mobility revolution. For more local and global news, check out car news on Motory.com.
