Ford unveiled the updated 2023 Explorer ahead of the official reveal at the Beijing Auto Show. In the newly released pictures, we were able to take a closer look and notice that the silhouette did not change, but there are some new design tweaks for both the front and rear ends.
Front End
Ford decided to give the front fascia a bit of a modern makeover to fit the needs of the Chinese local markets, and we noticed the following:
- Similar LED headlights to the ones found in the fifth generation
- Huge grille with new styling pattern
- Redesigned wheels with several options to choose from
- Longer front bumper (5,050 mm to 5,063 mm)
- Slimmer air intakes with chrome accents near the bumper, but it lacks DRLs like its predecessor
Read End
Ford applied more new elements to the back to match it with the front:
- Connected LED taillights and housing a chrome shiny stripe
- New skid plates
- Bigger exhaust pipes finished in chrome
- The EXPLORER badge is higher on both the front and rear end
Interior
Ford decided to make a detour and add more surprises in the cabin, as we can see a new landscape infotainment screen instead of the vertical one so the front passenger can have more control, and it is partnered with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display.
Moreover, Ford added new rotating dials to the center console, and the design tweaks extended to the air vents and made them slimmer.
There were no upgrades regarding the powertrain, and the car stills run on a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with 272 hp.
The 2023 Ford Explorer will be produced at Changan Ford in China, and the market launch will follow later on in the next months.
