Bidirectional Charging can be the Real Deal in EV World

The world is facing a weird and ongoing climate change, so now an issue like this started to spread its arms to every single field of work until it reached the automotive industry, which prompted many automakers to go electric to lower the damage of cars’ emissions on the environment, and so far we have seen some pretty impressive examples of electrics cars from different car makers.

Fast forward to now, these companies are now doing a great job in the EV field and the decided to step up the ladder, so now they’re working on turning their cars into an “on-demand power sources”, just like what we saw in the new Ford F-150 Lightning that can give power to an entire house.

Just recently, GM teamed up with PG&E for electrical supplies to test bidirectional-charging technology that allows users to use their cars to give power to other vehicles or houses, so if there was a blackout due to weather conditions, you can just simply power your house using your EV.

The two companies are aiming for this feature to work automatically, so the house will receive power from the car instead of the main grid automatically without having the owner connect them to each other, so now they’re testing “bidirectional hardware coupled with software-defined communications protocols that will enable power to flow from a charged EV into a customer’s home, automatically coordinating between the EV, home and PG&E’s electric supply.”
