Bentley stated in a press release recently that it is currently restoring one of its 1965 models, the T-Series, and this car is one of the few that saved the company’s presence in the automotive world.
It is worth noting the Bentley was owned by Rolls Royce back then, that’s why the T-Series looks identical to Rolls Royce’s Silver Shadow, except for the front grille and bonnet’s design, but they were both equipped with the same hydraulic self-leveling suspension and engine.
The engine is a 6.25-liter V8 that can produce up to 225 hp, and the car was able to accelerate 0-100 Km/ Hour in 10.9 seconds with a top speed of 185 Km/ Hour.
The company kept making the same engine until 2020, for the great performance it delivered in the past, but gave it more displacement, electronic fuel injection, and turbocharging to fit the cars of this era.
When the car was first produced on 28 September 1965, it was covered in Shell Grey paint and blue leather on the inside, and it was shown at the Paris motor show after that Bentley kept it for trial work.
The restoration process started in 2016, but it was paused because Bentley wanted to focus on its new releases, and just recently, they resumed the process. The company said when they tried starting the engine for the first time in 15 years, it worked just fine and was in great condition.
The process should be done in 2023, and the car will join Bentley's heritage collection, which reflects the company’s glorious work over the years.
