Following the unveiling of Alfa Romeo's 2023 Tonale, a compact crossover with a hybrid powertrain in some markets, it was revealed in an interview with the company's CEO that Alfa Romeo wants to be an all-electric brand by 2027. In 2024, the brand will release its first futuristic electric vehicle.
The future electric car will be smaller than the compact Tonale 2023, according to the marketing director. He also stated that it will be based on an updated version of Stellantis' CMP platform, which is designed for compact electric cars.
In order to keep the good sport performance that Alfa Romeo provides to its cars, the future electric car is projected to be dubbed the Brennero and will be equipped with a battery with a capacity of 50 kWh and an electric motor with a power of up to 136 hp.
In addition to the plans announced by Alfa Romeo officials, certain automotive news websites reported that the company wants to release hybrid and electric versions of its prior models before 2025.
