Toyota has announced that it will offer a manual transmission option in its flagship Toyota Supra 2023 sports car, and it confirmed this by publishing a tweet on the Twitter platform on Friday, April 15, and this confirmation comes after several months of rumors and speculation about what the upgrades will be. Toyota hasn't provided any other information regarding its powertrain changes, which begs the question, will there be a 4-cylinder engine? Or even a 6-cylinder engine? Or perhaps both? Both powertrains are related to BMW, this German firm also provides these powertrains in various vehicles with manual transmissions, such as the BMW Z4, which shares specifications with the Japanese Supra.
As expected, the 2023 Toyota Supra sports car may get a 6-cylinder main engine, with a capacity of 3.0 liters, to generate a power of up to 382 hp, and another four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 2.0 liters that generates 255 hp.
It's also expected that the transmission will be a six-speed, used by other sports cars of the company, such as Gazoo Racing GR 86 and Toyota GR Yaris, however, this hasn't been confirmed yet.
Notably, Toyota also revealed that the 2023 Toyota Supra manual car will be visually distinguished by a new red Supra badge at the rear.
Toyota also adds that further information regarding the manual gearbox in the 2023 Supra will be available in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for the most up-to-date information.
