Toyota Corolla hatchback just entered the vibrant and thrilling Gazoo Racing world, as Toyota’s team did what they had to do to uplift this car’s performance, and the final result seems to be creating new competition in the realm of the fast car.
The original Corolla hatchback runs on a 2-liter 4 cylinder engine that generates 168 hp, but these kinds of numbers won’t do much in the fast cars world, so the team did the right equation and now we have the new Toyota GR Corolla with the following capabilities:
- A turbocharged 1.6-liter 3 cylinder engine
- 6-speed manual transmission
- GR-Four all-wheel-drive system to level off the torque and power between the front and rear axle
- Aluminum bonnet and door panels helped in cutting down the weight by 85.7 Kg hence a better performance
- The body sits on a solid TNGA-C platform
- Upgraded suspension for an optimum cornering capability on all surfaces
- 18-inch gloss black wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires
- A strong braking system with 4 aluminum calipers
All of these factors work hand in hand so the engine can produce 300 hp and 370 Nm of torque, which is double the power in comparison to the original Corolla hatchback.
The exterior upgrades include a large grille and bulging fenders, we can also see some vertical intakes on the sides, and GR-Four badging on the side skirts. This sporty vibe stretches to the backside of the car, as we can see a three-tube stainless steel exhaust system and a diffuser integrated into the rear bumper.
Inside, Toyota added a 12.3-inch digital cluster which provides the driver with all sorts of information needed from the current wheel drive system to turbo pressure and so on, not only that but there's also an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia screen supported by a speech recognition system that responds to the phrase “Hey Toyota”.
The driver sits on fabric sport seats with gray contrast stitching and GR badging on the headrest, and the steering wheel is wrapped in leather.
The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla features Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system, and it includes Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and many more, there’s also Toyota’s Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
The Japanese company will reveal the price of the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla in the upcoming months, and the sales will start later in Autumn.
