Mercedes will soon launch the G-Class 4x4 Squared off-road vehicle, as the car will appear for the first time in 2023, after the launch of an off-road-focused version of the facelifted G-Glass.
Some spy photographers spotted this G-Class 4x4x2 prototype during winter testing, which shows less camouflage on the car's chassis, we're now able to get a good look at the car's design and off-road upgrades.
New Features and Specifications
Below are the car's overall specifications, covering its key technical and design features defining its performance, from horsepower and drive system to comfort and integrated technology.
Exterior Design
The car's bodyshell is similar to that of a standard G-Class, with the exception of LED headlights and an updated front bumper. The automaker, on the other hand, has added a slew of off-road features, which include:
- roof rack
- spare wheel carrier for the rear door
- tough metal rear bumper
The brand has also changed the chassis of the car; under the 4x4's front bumper, you'll see a beefier set of lower control arms, as well as drilled disc brakes and larger calipers beneath the alloy wheels.
Powertrain Specifications
This Squared version can be powered by a high-performance Mercedes powerful engine, and through the appearance of the car and the appearance of external exhausts, it is expected that the engine specifications are as follows:
- V8 turbocharged engine
- 4.0 liter
- 604 HP
- Torque 850 Nm
- 9-speed automatic transmission from G-Wagen
- Mechanical all-wheel-drive system
Buyers will also get three locking differentials and clever anti-roll technology.
Interior Design
Inside the new 4x4 Squared, there will be some significant alterations. It'll get the latest version of Mercedes' MBUX infotainment software, which is an important update since the G-Wagen is currently the only vehicle in the German brand's lineup that still runs on previous-generation tech.
Instead of large screens like those found in the new S-Class and EQS, the focus will be on new software, fresh trim, and updated switchgear, with brand logo also integrating a touch-sensitive pad.
What About The Price?
The automaker hasn't revealed the price of the new 4x4 Squared 2023 yet, but as expected, it will start at 135,501 US dollars, equivalent to 508,450 SAR.
